- Martyna Szczesna
- Skarbczyk

- Opening Reception Wednesday, November 3rd, 6-8:30pm
- Martyna Szczesna's work mines the manufactured nostalgia and longing of scenic landscapes Drawn to the simultaneous power and disposability of the photographic image, Szczesna uses the collage process to dismantle that which she finds beautiful, turning one into hundreds of precious objects. With these "broken landscapes," Szczesna builds a resonance between content and process. In a literal sense, her landscapes are pieced and pasted together, while the places depicted are themselves in a state of entropy.
- Born in Olsztyn, Poland, Martyna Szczesna has been living in the United States for nearly two decades. A graduate of the Cooper Union, she is now based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Her work investigates the dislocation of language and place through photography, collage and installation.
